ADMS 1 Fiat CR.25
24 Pages
The Fiat CR.25 was a large twin-engined aircraft designed for multiple uses. Put photo here
The Regia Aeronautica was never quite able to figure out what their require-
ments were for it as it was being developed, but it was mainly used for
convoy escort duties. In this area, its' long range and reliable engines were
a real benefit its' the flight crews. Assigned to the 173rd R.S.T. (Land
Strategic Reconnaissance Squadron), the Fiat CR.25 acquited itself well in
its' escort duties, losing no crews and providing the services required of it.
An interesting aircraft with several very interesting stories in this monograph.

ADMS 2 Caproni Ca.100
24 Pages
The Ca.100 was a license built version of the De Havilland
DH.60 Cirrus Moth. The original license was for 40 aircraft,
but this was "stretched" to hundreds of aircraft built over the
8 year production life. This was the primary trainer aircraft
for Italian pilots, both civilian and military, and was even built
in a floatplane version. It established Caproni as a maker of
reliable and easy to fly aircraft. This is the aircraft to start with
when you are reading about the Regia Aeronautica.

ADMS 3 Fiat RS. 14
24 Pages
Within a year of the deployment of the Cant Z.501 flying boat, due to a
certain level of unhappiness with its' ability to perform at required levels,
the Italian Air Ministry issued specifications for a "fast maritime reconnaissance
seaplane". Fiat responded with this beauty! With a top speed of 235 mph
and very manourveable (even able to loop), the RS. 14 provided good service
to the Italians. It carried its' offensive weapons in a easily detachable pod
under the fuselage centerline making re-arming simple and quick. Perhaps the
first use of this concept. Its' weak spots were the unreliability of its' engines and
the lack of rough sea landing capabilities. The 3 engined Cant Z.506 was used
for air-sea rescue and the RS.14 more for reconnaissance work.

ADMS 4 Avia FL.3
24 Pages
Designed by Francis Lombardi and test flown by him in
November, 1938 during a visit by B. Mussolini, the Avia FL.3
represented a new level of training aircraft. Good handling,
easy manoeuvring, stable flight, good visibility and side by side
seating were all virtues sought by beginning pilots. The flight
schools criticised it for being too easy to fly and impossible to
spin! After the Armistice of 1943, the Germans, who liked
the qualities of this arcraft, sent 145 to various flight schools
in Vienna and in Germany. It was built after the war and con-
tinues to be popular in Italy. Really fun to read about this neat
little aircraft. $12.49

ADMS 5 Campini-Caproni Jet
24 Pages
"In January, 1931 the Air Ministry had received from Secondo Campini
(Bologna 1904-Milan 1980) a paper on a new powerplant which promised
to offer aircraft very high speed and altitude." This resulted in an Italian
manufactured jet propelled aircraft first flown August 27, 1940. Even though
only two examples were built, one of them in excellent condition survives as a
testament to Italian aircraft and powerplant design and ingenuity. Made possible
by the financial investment of Count Gianni Caproni, you can read about this
technological leap forward by the aeronautical industry from whom you never
expected it. Information like this opens your eyes to the capabilities of Italian
aeronautical design and engineering.
